About West Ham
West Ham United play at the London Stadium, capacity 62,500, having moved from the Boleyn Ground (Upton Park) in 2016 in one of the most contentious stadium moves in English football. Founded in 1895, the Hammers' greatest contribution to the game came in 1966: Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters formed the core of England's World Cup-winning team. No other club has contributed more to a single World Cup triumph. The 2023 Europa Conference League win under David Moyes was their first European trophy in 58 years.
Legends
Bobby Moore (1958-1974) was the greatest defender England has produced, captain of the 1966 World Cup-winning side. Geoff Hurst remains the only man to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final. Billy Bonds made 799 appearances, the club's iron man, playing until he was 41. Martin Peters, the third member of the 1966 triumvirate, was described by Alf Ramsey as ten years ahead of his time.
